"ITALIAOUTDOORS FOOD AND WINE" ANNOUNCE 2013 CULINARY SKI VACATIONS IN THE DOLOMITES
Small-Group Tour Scheduled March 10-16; Custom Private Tours Also Available Starting December 2012

 

Newburyport, MA, September 2012 – Italiaoutdoors Food and Wine announces its March 10-16, 2013 ski and snowboard holiday in the Dolomites region of Northeastern Italy.  Priced at $3995 per person, based on double occupancy, the program invites winter enthusiasts to the Alto Adige region of Italy to explore skiing in the majestic Dolomites, experience the culture of Sudtirol, and savor regional cuisine and distinctive local wines. Led by expert ski and snowboard instructor and mountain guide Vernon McClure, and cooking instructor and chef Kathy Bechtel, also a PSIA-certified ski instructor, Italiaoutdoors ski and snowboard holidays indulge guests’ ski bum and foodie predilections on a distinctive winter retreat in Italy.  Trips include accommodations, guided ski tours, meals, daily wine tastings and other activities; air and equipment rental are additional.  Daily routes including shorter trails and groomed terrain for novice and intermediate athletes as well as randonee explorations for the advanced skier, allowing groups of mixed interests and abilities to enjoy the region’s offerings.

Tours of five days or longer can also be customized for groups of four or more for dates beginning December 2012.  Perfect for families, groups of friends or ski clubs, private programs can be designed for any budget, with each custom tour including daily wine tastings and activities tailored to all ski levels.

Italiaoutdoors Food and Wine works with each group to craft a custom itinerary that provides a balance of activity, rest and relaxation. A maximum of 12 persons per group allows for daily itinerary customization and refinement, based on participants’ interests, pacing, and real-time “finds.” In any given tour, novice or intermediate skiers can enjoy daily lessons while expert skiers can enjoy off-piste adventures with recreation specialist McClure. Other outdoor activities can be arranged including snowboarding, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, or snowshoeing. For those desiring a day away from the slopes, or for non-skier traveling companions, day excursions to Verona, Innsbruck and other cities can be arranged to include shopping, museum visits, and guided walking tours and other cultural activities.

At the end of each day, Chef Bechtel introduces participants to the wines of the region. Bechtel carefully curates each day’s wine tasting selection, choosing such locally produced wines from the world-renowned wine regions of Trentino and Alto Adige as Schiava, Lagrein, and Vino Santo. In the evenings, the rich Austro-Hungarian culture and history of the region come to life, as guests enjoy local cuisine in charming osterias and more refined ristorantes.
