The U.S. leader in small group adventure travel, Adventure Center invites families to enjoy "Active Pyrenees," set in the scenic Pyrenees mountain range, and the "Dalmatian Adventure Family Holiday," an adventure on Mijet, one of Croatia's most beautiful islands. After arriving in Toulouse, guests travel to the charming principality of Andorra, on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees; despite its small size, the country’s towering peaks and curving valleys make it the perfect base for an adventure holiday. Families explore the breathtaking Siscaro Lakes and the Incles Valley on foot, and head off on an off-road adventure in a 4WD vehicle, following an old smugglers' route and visiting farming hamlets along the way. Venturing into Spain, guests choose between white water rafting a river's fast flowing section – for those seeking a thrill – or in equally gorgeous, calmer waters. Mountain biking in Spain takes a downhill journey into the Cortals Valley and Engolasters Lake before heading into a wooded forest, choosing a route most suitable for ability, and a traditional barbecue. Rates for the 15 departure dates between May 29 and Aug. 21, 2011 range from $873 to $978 per person, double, and include transport modes (minibus, mountain bike, rafts, etc.), accommodations, and most meals.
The roundtrip "Dalmatian Adventure Family Holiday" kicks off with dinner and a sightseeing tour along the cobblestone streets of enchanting Dubrovnik – the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice for maritime trade. From there, families take a short cruise to the beautiful Croatian island of Mljet, a slender isle of national parks, steep cliffs, turquoise waters and colorful reefs. During the six-night stay, families enjoy a walking tour, revealing ancient stone villages nestled within the island's scenic interiors; two days of cycling and exploration in the lush national parks; opportunities to swim in the island’s salt water lakes and explore its rich forests; sea kayaking in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea; and a free day, with exciting optional activities including snorkeling, windsurfing and canoeing.
