The Italiaoutdoors / Italiaoutdoors Food and Wine touring company offers culturally rich, lifestyle vacations for the active traveler. Distinctive biking, hiking, skiing and walking programs cover both back road and city locales, complemented by a focus on food, wine, culture and history of the Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Emilia Romagna regions. Daily adventures are educational, healthy, earth friendly, and fun. Programs also include cooking classes, wine tastings, and restaurant dining which explore the best in local regional cuisine and undiscovered wines. Itineraries are rounded out with city visits, shopping, cultural excursions or just relaxing poolside. The intimate size of each group, ranging from 4-12 participants, allows daily program customization based on participants' fitness level, desired pacing and interests.
Founded by recreation and Italy specialist Vernon McClure, Italiaoutdoors began in 2006 with a desire to provide the curious traveler with an opportunity to enjoy an active vacation while experiencing a full immersion into the culture and history of Northern Italy. Kathy Bechtel expanded the program in 2010, bringing her culinary talents and wine training to the company and creating Italiaoutdoors Food and Wine. McClure and Bechtel lead all tours: pre-organized scheduled itineraries and individually customized programs for small groups at a variety of budget levels.
